Tony was born and raised in New York City. His father is Cuban and his mother is Dominican. Because of that,
Tony considers himself a "Cubinican American". Tony grew up in upper Manhattan (Washington Heights) listening
to hip hop and R&B music. At home his father exposed him to the 1950's Cuban music of Beny More, Celia Cruz and Charanga
America. Tony began studying percussion at the age of 23. He has played with various Latin artists such as Frankie Negron,
La India and DLG. "There is nothing in this world like music. It transcends the spirit and fills your mind, body and
soul."
